The U.S. Supreme Court’s latest ruling dangerously narrows the authority of the EPA to address climate pollution from coal power plants
(HELENA, Mont.) – Today the Montana Conservation Voters Education Fund released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to drastically narrow the EPA’s authority to regulate climate pollution under the Clean Air Act:
“Today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is incredibly dangerous for Montana’s future. We can’t afford any more roadblocks to addressing climate change, which is already threatening Montana’s farms and ranches with severe drought, historic flooding and smokey skies. Our kids should have a right to clean air. This decision only exacerbates the real and urgent need to pass federal climate legislation now.”
