The MCV Education Fund Applauds Land Boards’ Support of Big Snowy Mountains

Conservation group now looks ahead to protect Habitat Montana dollars for future conservation

(HELENA, Mont.) – Today the Montana Conservation Voters Education Fund released the following statement from Executive Director Whitney Tawney in response to the vote by the Montana Land Board to authorize the acquisition of the Big Snowy Mountains Wildlife Management Area:

Thank you to Governor Gianforte and the members of the Montana Land Board for authorizing the use of Habitat Montana dollars to establish Montana’s newest Wildlife Management Area. This is more proof the State of Montana will always need dedicated public funding to unlock public access and protect our open spaces. We encourage Governor Gianforte to follow up on this historic vote by fully funding the Habitat Montana account in his upcoming Executive Budget, specifically including the tax revenue from recreational marijuana sales that were set aside by voters and authorized by Montana lawmakers through HB 701.
